March Madness and Visitors

Every year around this time, Steve's best friend Scott comes to visit and they like to watch March Madness Basketball. This year, Scott brought his girlfriend, Lucine (pronounced Lucina), to meet us. She is Armenian and has an accent but has lived in California since she was 11. We really liked her. We mostly stayed in doors except to eat lunch out once and on Saturday, just the girls went to Hammond's Candy Factory because we were getting sick of t.v. and too much basketball. By the way, the OU men's team made it to the Elite 8 but they lost today and are out. Steve was bummed.

He was making wintergreen candy canes. I know, candy canes in March, but the tour guide said they make and sell candy canes all year round.

Let it Snow!

Last Thursday we got a lot of snow, I think it was around 10 inches or more. Some areas nearby got 18 inches. Well, since it was one of the only big snowstorms we got here this year, the girls had to put all their gear on and go play. I think it took as much time to put all their snow gear on as they played outside but they were having a blast.

Audrey kept getting stuck in the snow because it was so deep so Olivia would have to rescue her.

Ahh! How can you not serve hot chocolate after playing in the snow? Notice we only have two Olivia cups. Audrey needs her own cup grandma, hint hint.

Denver Botanic Gardens

Monday was a free day at the Denver Botanic Gardens and since it was supposed to be 72 degrees outside I called up my good friend Andrea to see if she wanted to meet us there to get out of the house and walk around. Of course it wasn't very green and there wasn't much blooming except for the indoor exhibit but it was still nice to get out in the fresh air.

Haircuts

The girls got haircuts today by my friend Vicki. Olivia has been wanting to cut her hair off like mine for awhile now and we finally did it. I love how it turned out. I posted pictures from all angles because my mom really wanted to see how it turned out.

A Day at the ADA Expo

Today we went to the American Diabetes Association Expo which has become a yearly event for us. We wanted to watch Elliot Yamin speak. Remember him, he was on American Idol Season 5?
Anyway, he has Type 1 Diabetes and wears a pump. Let me tell you we were very disappointed, he was a horrible speaker. He probably spoke for about 5 minutes and he kept stopping to look at his notes but couldn't find his place so there were like a lot of 30 second awkward pauses. And then when he was done he was like, "Well, let's see. What else should I talk about?" I was thinking, ARE YOU KIDDING? The ADA brought you here to speak and you spoke for less than 5 minutes. It was like he just winged it. He opened it up to questions and after several questions, I asked him when he got a low blood sugar while he was performing, what did he do? It's only happened to him once and he chugged a soda and then had to keep excusing himself during the next song because he kept burping. Then I asked if he would sing for us? He tried to ignore this question and answered others but finally the guy next to me started chanting, "SING, SING, SING." So he did and he was good but it was like pulling teeth to get him to sing. Oh well, it was still cool to see him. He sang the chorus to this song, Wait for You.

The girls got their faces painted, not the best artistry but they had fun.

Snowman Treats

Found this idea in Family Fun magazine and had to try it out. My girls loved it! Well Olivia did anyway, I think it freaked Audrey out a little bit, she wouldn't eat it all.
